Woman Takes Full Responsibility For Jaguar Attack After Attempted Selfie

The prospect of getting a picture purrfect selfie with a big cat that lives on the top of the food chain can be alluring. But most of us know the risk isn't worth the picture. Most of us.

Earlier this week, a woman took a leap of faith in her own selfie skills, but it didn't turn out as she'd hoped.

The unknown woman attempted to capture a quick pic with a jaguar at the Wildlife World Zoo in Arizona by reaching over the enclosure's barrier.

She was then attacked by the animal, enduring non life-threatening, but nevertheless severe injuries to the arm.

When the story broke, social media blew up with criticism over her actions.

Many calling for a penalty towards the woman, and pleas to ensure the safety of the jaguar's life.

However, a recent development in the story has shifted the negative discourse surrounding the woman's actions.

According to AZ Family, a spokesperson for the Wildlife World Zoo, Kristy Morcum, claims that the woman had returned to the zoo the following day to meet with the owner and apologize, taking full responsibility for her actions.

According to Morcum, the woman said she loved the zoo, and "feels horrible about the bad publicity the zoo is getting regarding the incident."

Morcum added that the woman admitted the incident was her own fault.

Currently, it looks as if the zoo will not be taking action against the jaguar or the woman.

However this serves as a cautionary tale to future zoo-goers hoping to get an instagrammable photo — it's simply not worth the risk.
