Shakira has a new song and it seems to have been inspired by her ex, football player Gerard Pique, though not in the way he would have wanted.

The 45-year-old Colombian singer collaborated with Argentine DJ Bizarrap on the single titled BZRP Music Sessions #53, which has some really telling lyrics.

It Appears To Throw Shade At Pique

The song throws shade at an ex-lover and his new girlfriend, and the details hit dangerously close to home. Translated from Spanish, it begins with “Sorry, I’ve already caught another plane,” seemingly referencing her move from Barcelona to Miami with her and Pique’s two sons, Sasha and Milan.

'Worst Version Of You'

In the next lines, she appears to reference his athletic background. “So much talk of being a champion / And when I needed you / You gave me the worst version of you.”

'Out Of Your League'

Here, she slams both him and his new girlfriend: “I was out of your league, that’s why you’re with someone just like you.”

So Many Obvious References

At one point, Shakira drops more clues that the song is based on reality: “You left me with your mom as a neighbor, the press at my door, and a debt with the Treasury.”

It Made Her Stronger

However, it’s also clear that this isn’t about self-pity, as she sings, “You thought you’d hurt me but you made me stronger / Women no longer cry, women get paid.”

She Actually Mentions Her Name

And just in case she hasn’t made it obvious already, she actually mentions the new girlfriend’s first name using a play on words in Spanish (her name is Clara Chia Marti, ICYDK). She also wishes his ex good luck with her “so-called replacement.”

She Doesn't Hold Back

Later in the song, Shakira doesn’t hold back with the punches: “I’m worth two 22-year-olds / You traded in a Ferrari for a Twingo / You traded in a Rolex for a Casio / You’re all worked up…slow down / So much time at the gym / But maybe work out your brain a bit too.”

Brushes Him Off

Towards the end, she seems to brush him off, singing, “I can be out by tomorrow, and be my guest if you want to move her in too.” Watch the entire music video above.

Their Separation

Shakira and Pique, who were together for 12 years, announced their separation in June 2022 after the footballer allegedly cheated on her with Chia.
