DOJ's Two-Year Investigation Into Hillary Clinton Finds 'Nothing Worth Pursuing'

Shortly after taking office, President Trump made good on his word to investigate "Crooked Hillary," tasking then-Attorney General Jeff Sessions and the Justice Department with getting to the bottom of things like "her emails" and "Uranium One."

Sessions assigned U.S. Attorney John Huber to the case, in which he would look into accusations that maybe the FBI hadn't been thorough enough when investigating anything related to the Clinton Foundation or Clinton's term at the helm of the State Department.

For two years, Huber and his team did their best to dig up anything and everything they could.

Now, as the Washington Post reports, the investigation is winding down with no indictments on the horizon, having "effectively ended with no tangible results."

Huber and his team pored over documents and worked with federal law enforcement officials investigating the Clinton Foundation over allegations of special treatment for donors while Clinton was Secretary of State and discovered "nothing worth pursuing."

Apparently, many inside the DOJ believe the department took on the task merely to appease Trump.

The Post cited senior officials as saying that the investigation was "unlikely to lead to anything of significance," adding that "We didn't expect much of it, and neither did [Huber], and as time went on, a lot of people forgot about it."

Huber's investigation hasn't technically, formally completed, CNN confirmed.

Meanwhile, the State Department pursued its own investigation of Clinton's use of a private email server while serving as Secretary of State.

The department's Bureau of Diplomatic Security investigated for three years and finally concluded that 38 people committed a total of 91 security violations involving Clinton's private server, Politico reported.

However, the report also found that, ultimately "there was no persuasive evidence of systemic, deliberate mishandling of classified information."

Neither the White House nor the DOJ have commented on the *Post*'s story so far.

However, somewhat predictably, Trump has not dropped his "lock her up" rhetoric despite the investigation coming up empty. Just after the Post story broke, Trump once again dragged out his "Crooked Hillary" line before a crowd at a rally in Toledo.
