Man Spends Every Valentine's Day Handing Out Roses To Widows And Military Wives

For most of us, Valentine's Day is just like any other day, albeit with a lot more flowers, chocolates, and singing teddy bears. But for some people, the Day of Love might serve as a pretty harsh reminder of their own loneliness.

That's where Seth Stewart comes in.

As CNN reported, the 29-year-old from Spokane, Washington, has spent the last eight years handing out roses to widows and military wives so that everyone can have a happy Valentine's Day.

It all began when Stewart and one of his brothers decided to pass out two dozen roses to their single friends.

However, after word of their generosity got around, they started getting requests from their community for even more rose deliveries. Soon, what started as a selfless act of kindness between friends turned into an annual tradition.

Stewart even started his own delivery service dedicated specifically to handing out their Valentine's Day roses.

People send in their requests for free roses to the Rose Rush Facebook page, and Stewart promises that every person who sends in a request gets a rose.

The recipients are usually single women and widows, but some community members also ask for roses to be sent to women whose lives have been seriously impacted.

Deployed boyfriends and husbands will even reach out to Rose Rush to make sure their loved ones get a rose for Valentine's Day, even if they can't deliver it themselves.

Some people even include messages explaining why they're sending this person a rose, and Stewart said they can be very emotional stories.

"Some of the stories are so touching," Stewart told CNN. "No matter how bad you are feeling there is always someone thinking about you."

He added, "Every single year we do this, there are always one or two women who break down sobbing because it means so much to them."

The team posted a video of their delivery service in action, and it's truly a heartwarming sight to see.

In the touching video, the group of guys excitedly tour Spokane as they deliver roses to all the special and deserving ladies on their list.

This Valentine's Day, Rose Rush delivered over 600 roses to women in the community and surrounding area.

"Thank you to everyone who participated, helped deliver and nominated," the group wrote in a post on Facebook. "Every Valentine's Day, it all comes together from your support."

Rose Rush also revealed they are implementing a new delivery system for next year in order to input requests more efficiently and get out their deliveries even faster.

And it looks like the service is also planning on possibly delivering outside of the Spokane area in the future.

A recent Facebook post revealed that they've received enough interest that they "think it's time [they] start possibly planning some expansion outside of Spokane, WA."

Stewart said that he keeps a personal list of people who he delivers roses to every single year.

But, he said his first four customers are always the same, no matter how many deliveries Rose Rush is facing — his mom and his three sisters.

Rose Rush is a crowdfunded operation. They accept donations for their selfless cause through their GoFundMe page.
