10+ TV Shows That Deserved More Than One Season

If you were to examine several highly-rated TV shows, such as Game of Thrones, Dexter, and Breaking Bad, you'd see that all of them have something in common: many seasons!

After all, people demand that they see more. So what about shows that don't have a lot of seasons? Does that mean that they're bad?

As it turns out, not so. Some shows are the exception, not the rule.

Here are 10+ TV shows that were so good but only had one season.

1. Bunheads (2012)

IMDb

Fans of Gilmore Girls would love this series created by the same creator, Amy Sherman-Palladino. How fun!

It had a unique and fun plot: a former Vegas showgirl who ends up working at a dance school. Cue the hilarity!

2. My So-Called Life (1994)

IMDb

If you thought Romeo and Juiliet was Claire Danes' breakout role, think again! She was busy doing this first.

Created by Winnie Holzman, the series followed 15-year-old Angela Chase as she went through the trials and tribulations of being a teenager.

3. Firefly (2002)

IMDb

To this day, fans can't get over the cancellation of this science fiction show.

A lot of this had to do with Nathan Fillion's superfans who always want to see more from the actor. Such a shame it was cancelled.

4. Spinning Out (2020)

IMDb

It's only been since January 1 that the figure skating show premiered on Netflix.

The 10-episode series followed Kat Baker (Kaya Scodelario who starred in Skins), an elite figure skater who gets her chance at a comeback after a disastrous fall.

5. Battlestar Galactica (1978)

There's more to this show than just the hilarious one-liner from The Office: Bears. Beats. Battlestar Galactica. Yes, that's right.

It was the science fiction show that actually started the whole franchise! Not too shabby for one season.

6. Trophy Wife

IMDb

This ABC show, starring Malin Akerman, ended up being a huge surprise to fans.

They found the premise of a former party girl becoming a trophy wife to a man with a lot of baggage completely hilarious. But it could not last.

7. The Secret Circle (2011)

IMDb

When this supernatural show aired in 2011, it had a lot of themes similar to Twilight and The Vampire Diaries.

The major difference, however, was that it was about witches. While it had a good fan base, it wasn't enough.

8. Outmatched (2020)

Deadline

Despite this Fox live-action comedy having two great leads — Jason Biggs and Maggie Lawson — it wasn't enough to save the show.

Sources are saying, though, that this won't be the last we see of the leads on Fox.

9. Good Girls Revolt (2015)

IMDb

This American drama was fittingly premiered during the time of #MeToo, but just didn't hit the mark.

Starring Genevieve Angelson, Anna Camp, and Erin Darke, it followed the story of a group of female researchers in 1969 who fight for gender equality.

In the end, it was cancelled by former Amazon boss Roy Price.

Since he was fired due to accusations of sexual harassment toward a female producer, a revolt from fans to get the show renewed began.

Yup, that's a lot of info to process.

10. Clone High (2002)

IMDb

This was an animated show that fans loved, but it could not last.

It had a unique premise: the minds of historical figures were cloned and placed in high school together. This included Abe Lincoln, JFK, Joan of Arc, plus more.

Sadly, MTV cartoons have historically never done too well.

IMDb

While the summary sounds a little boring, fans found that the dialogue was laugh-out-loud funny.

Plus, it was cool to see historical figures struggle the same way we did through school.

11. Selfie (2014)

IMDb

It's a shame the show was named Selfie since that turned a lot of viewers off of this ABC series.

But for the ones that gave this modern comedy a watch, they loved it! But we had to say goodbye.

It starred Karen Gillan John Cho as they tried to navigate the world of social media.

IMDb

It even was considered a modern adaption of My Fair Lady, starring Audrey Hepburn.

If nothing else, it's a great show that teaches us about the good and bad parts of social media.

12. Inside Look: The People v. O.J. Simpson, American Crime Story (2016)

IMDb

If you like thrillers and documentaries, then you would have loved this series.

It was said to have sharp dialogue, an interesting storyline, and brilliant acting. There's clearly more to this story, so it's shame the series didn't last.

13. The Good Guys (2010)

IMDb

If you like crime comedy shows like Brooklyn 99, you'd love this series.

Starring Bradley Whitford and Colin Hanks, it was known for his hilarious antics, as Hanks played the good cop who got partnered with the drunk Whitford.

14. Freaks and Geeks (1999)

Netflix

A lot of people didn't know about this gem until it hit Netflix a few years ago.

Once fans got into the coming-of-age teenage drama, they were sad to discover that it only had one season.

The show features a ton of familiar faces.

We're talking Seth Rogen, James Franco, Linda Cardellini, Jason Segel, and Busy Phillips.

Not to mention, it was created by Knocked Up director, Judd Apatow. This one definitely should have had more seasons!

15. Undeclared (2001)

IMDb

This was another coming-of-age teenage show by Judd Apatow that was sadly canceled after one season.

This underrated gem featured some familiar faces, such as Seth Rogen, Jay Baruchel, Carla Gallo, and even Charlie Hunnam.
