10+ Facts Fans Didn't Know About Adele

Adele has been such a huge, iconic part of pop-culture over the last decade.

She has changed the music game forever, and we wouldn't have it any other way.

But there is a lot more going on under the surface that we didn't know about her, and to be honest, it has only made us bigger fans of hers.

The highlight of her career has been winning Grammys.

"Winning the Grammys! To be nominated for a Grammy would have been a highlight, but winning just blew my mind," she told Elle when asked what the highpoint of her career has been thus far.

Etta James is one of her biggest vocal inspirations.

"Her voice was breath taking and her songs are reflections we all recognise in some way or another. It's an honour every time I hear her voice," she shared in a blog post in 2012.

Adele and Drake are good friends.

Their friendship began after Adele attended one of Drake's concerts, and later tweeted that it was one of her "favorite shows of all time".

The pair made their friendship official a year later, spending the day wining, dining, and going bowling.

She once dressed up as the country music legend, Dolly Parton, for Halloween.

For Halloween back in 2017, Adele dressed up as Dolly Parton and posted this photo on Instagram with a caption called her "the hero of [her] life."

Her favorite band is the Spice Girls.

I mean, I would be more shocked if that wasn't the case.

"Like, my favorite band is The Spice Girls. I just remember seeing Geri Halliwell and being like, '[expletive], I'm going to do that. I want to be Ginger Spice," she said.

Her go-to song is "Crazy In Love" by Beyoncé.

"When I want to party, I play 'Crazy in Love.' That's always been the song that my friends and I get ready to; or before I go on a first date, I play it to feel sexy," she said.

She keeps all of her awards in her bathroom.

"Americans are always mortified when I tell them this, but in England, it's a tradition to put your plaques and photographs and awards and gold records and stuff in your bathroom," she said.

"I don't know why. [I've heard that] The Beatles did it, the Rolling Stones did it...So, I've got a big cabinet on the wall, and the Grammys are on the middle shelf."

She once dated someone who had no idea she was a famous singer.

"It's funny, I was seeing this guy last summer, and he had no idea who I was. We never spoke about music, which I thought was a little weird, but I thought maybe he was just trying to make me feel comfortable by seeming unfazed by my success," she said.

"But the first time to my house, he went to the toilet, and when he came out he said, "Who the [expletive] are you?"

She, Beyoncé, and Billie Eilish hold the record for most Grammys in one night awarded to a woman.

Over the years, Adele has won a ton of awards.

But at the 2012 ceremony, she took home six Grammys in one night including song of the year and album of the year!

Britney Spears' "Oops I Did It Again" inspired Adele to be fearless in life.

That's definitely something I can relate to.

"I remember where I was when I first heard "Oops!...I Did It Again." The whole girl power movement really inspired me and made me feel really fearless," she said.

She has stage fright.

That is very surprising to me!

"With my stage fright, I just don't want to let people down. I get so nervous onstage that I don't have the guts to improvise or anything like that," she said.

When it comes to her family, she is very private.

"When I was like gearing up to start doing interviews again, I was like, 'OK, I'm not going to talk about my kid' — because obviously we live such a private life," she said.

She went to the same school for performing arts as the late, great, Amy Winehouse.

According to BBC, Adele studied at the BRIT School for Performing Arts and Technology, the same school that the late singer, Amy Winehouse, once briefly attended at a different time.

She was very anxious about meeting Beyoncé for the first time (understandably).

“I was about to meet Beyoncé,” she says, “and I had a full-blown anxiety attack. Then she popped in looking gorgeous, and said, ‘You’re amazing! When I listen to you I feel like I’m listening to God.’ Can you believe she said that?” she told Rolling Stone.
