Let's get into some of her most interesting facts!

1. She was 17 years old when she starred in her first film.

"I was 17. I did Heavenly Creatures, Sense and Sensibility, Hamlet, and Jude before I did Titanic," she revealed to Good Housekeeping.

She was obviously destined for greatness.

2. She believes that *Sense and Sensibility* was the movie that put her on the map.

Back in 2015, on The Graham Norton Show, Kate Winslet revealed after she finally won an Oscar in 2009, she keeps the statue in her bathroom so that guests can practice their hypothetical acceptance speeches.

“The whole point is for everybody to pick it up and go, ‘I’d like to thank my son and my dad,'" she said.

"And you can always tell when someone has, because they’re in there a little bit longer after they flushed,” she added. “They’ll come out looking slightly pink-cheeked. It’s hysterical.”

"I'd love to have more. Not yet, though. I'm still very content with these two. They're such an adventure — and a riot every day," she told Good Housekeeping.

6. She is unafraid to do nude scenes.

"The truth is, at the end of the day, it's just acting. But that doesn't change the fact that it is a profoundly strange part of this job. I've actually done nude scenes before. And every time, I say, 'That's it. I'm not going to do that ever again.' Then I wind up doing one! But it's important to have those scenes if it helps make a character real," she told Good Housekeeping.

7. She doesn't like that she is known for being "curvaceous or statuesque."

"This drives me crazy! I'm only 5-foot-6, but people think I'm sort of a great big Viking woman. I'm not — I'm completely normal and average," she said in an interview with Good Housekeeping.

8. Her least favorite part of being famous is having to deal with paparazzi.

"When I'm on my own, I really don't care. But paparazzi with my kids? That bothers me. I mean, my son isn't aware of them yet, but my daughter's aware. And she just hides behind my back. She goes 'Uh-oh! Paparazzi to the right. Quick!' So we sort of try to turn it into an "us versus them" game. But I don't know how healthy that is either," she said.

9. She doesn't want to pressure her children to be actors when they grow up.

"I would never encourage it or discourage it. I'd certainly never push them to do it. I just want them to be who they are and make their own decisions and feel supported in whatever they choose," she explained.

10. She doesn't think she will ever get plastic surgery.

"I don't think I will because as I get older, I'm becoming more relaxed about body image.... My body does not dominate my thoughts. My day is not spent thinking about ab crunches!," she said to Good Housekeeping.

However that doesn't mean she isn't insecure! She thinks people would be shocked to know that she is somewhat insecure — so to speak — about her feet.

"I'm a little bit obsessive about my feet. I pick at my feet. [Laughs] I'm sure that's what everyone wants to know!," she said.

When asked if she struggled with her weight when she was younger, and if she was overweight she said: "Yes, I was." She also revealed that she doesn't go to great lengths to stay in shape nowadays.

"I mean I exercise when I have time...which at the moment is not at all. And when it comes to dieting, I just don't care," she said.

"I watch myself as much as any average woman does, you know? I'll eat one cookie, not a whole box of cookies. But I'll still eat the one cookie...sometimes two, or even three. But not the whole box."

12. She has protested against her photos being retouched by magazines.

She explained to Good Housekeeping that ever since being dramatically atlered after a shoot, she has been adament about looking as natural as possible.

"It wasn't that they simply retouched my image — they completely stretched it so I looked like I was 6 feet tall and a size 2. I'm a size 6 or 8 these days," she said.
