American Girl Created Five New Dolls To Honor Frontline Workers

Back in June, American Girl launched a contest called the Heroes With Heart contest, which called for families to nominate an essential worker in their life, explaining how they've made a difference in not only their lives but in the community as well.

Well, the results are in, and five essential workers just got their very own American Girl doll made in their honor.

To thank essential workers during the COVID-19 pandemic, American Girl wanted to honor them in a big way.

After receiving many submissions to their Heroes With Heart contest, American Girl chose five winners who got a doll made in their honor.

Paramedic April is one of them.

April is a paramedic in Virginia who was nominated by her niece. The paramedic unfortunately contracted the virus while working on the frontlines, but after she was healed, she "didn't hesitate for one moment" to get back to helping others.

Seventeen-year-old grocery store worker Xavier was nominated by his sister.

At just 17, Xavier began working five days a week at his store with asthma.

Considered to be particularly at-risk, Xavier is very deserving of his own doll!

Sarah was nominated by her granddaughter.

Not only is she a caregiver, but she also works to ensure disadvantaged members in her community are cared for as well.

Pam is a teacher who was nominated by her students.

During the lock down, she visited each of her students' homes with books and a sign to encourage them through it.

So sweet!

Spirit Airlines pilot Laurent was nominated by his daughter.

Not only did he fly a team of volunteer doctors to Haiti who were helping the nation fight COVID-19, but he also returned with a plane of stranded US passengers.

While the frontline workers won a doll of themselves, the nominators also won a $200 American Girl gift card.

This was a very sweet contest all around!
