Quotes For Anyone Who's Ever Been 'Mansplained' To

If you've ever been mainsplained to, you know just how annoying, condescending, and positively rage-inducing of an experience it can be.

What's mainsplaining, you ask? Well, it's what occurs when a man explains, comments, or corrects a woman in a patronizing and unreasonably confident way, believing they know the subject better than her.

And if that sounds irritably familiar, I think you're really going to relate to these quotes.

Fact: every "mansplaination" begins with the word, "actually".

Why? Well, because there's no more patronizing word in the English language than "actually".

It manages to disregard whatever was just said while also simultaneously signalling that whatever is coming next is probably a steaming hot pile of garbage coming out of a man's mouth.

They really think they're teaching us something.

After I'm mainsplained to, I usually just end up rolling my eyes to infinity and beyond, all while resisting the urge to punch the arrogant "mansplainer" in his teeth.

So no, I never actually say, "Oh now I get it!"

Interruptions are the key to a terrible mansplaination.

That's also how you know you should absolutely ignore everything that person is trying to say to you, because they are 100% doing the exact same thing.

This is next-level mansplaining.

Mine was when a male classmate in university tried to correct our professor on what it's really like to be an Indigenous woman in North America.

Even though she was, indeed, an Indigenous woman in North America.
