Jamie Foxx is mourning the loss of his younger sister, DeOndra Dixon, after she passed away at the age of 36.
The actor took to social media to share the news with fans in a touching Instagram post which featured several beautiful photos of the two together.
Friends, family, and fans have been commenting messages of condolences during this incredibly difficult time.
In 2009, DeOndra was honored as the Global Down Syndrome Foundation’s first-ever Quincy Jones Exceptional Advocacy Award winner before becoming an ambassador for the organization just two years later.
Now, the 52-year-old is paying tribute to his sister in an emotional Instagram post.
"My heart is shattered into a million pieces... my beautiful loving sister Deondra has transitioned... I say transitioned because she will always be alive... anyone who knew my sis... knew that she was a bright light...," he began.
He continued: "well I know she is in heaven now dancing with her wings on.."
"from sliding down my stairs with a grin as wide as the rio grand... to serenading us with all of her music... "
He concluded: "I love you with every ounce of me... our family is shattered but we will put the pieces back together with your love... and y’all please keep my family in your prayers.."
