Hugh Grant Reveals He'd Do A 'Notting Hill' Sequel But Only If It Involved 'A Hideous Divorce'

I really miss the golden age of romantic comedies. Notting Hill, Four Weddings And A Funeral, Bridget Jones' Diary, Two Weeks Notice, Love Actually — all of these are genre defining classics.

There's one other similarity between all of those films, and that's the presence of British actor Hugh Grant, who for a while was kind of the king of rom coms.

*Notting Hill* in particular is a favorite of many.

The movie followed Hugh Grant as a charming bookstore owner in London who meets and falls in love with an American movie star played by Julia Roberts. The two end up happily together, although it is a bumpy ride to get there.

In a recent Q&A, Hugh was asked if he would ever return to the world of romantic comedies.

“I would like to do a sequel to one of my own romantic comedies that shows what happened after those films ended,” Hugh responded, and quickly named Notting Hill as one he'd like to revisit, but not for the reason you might hope.

Hugh said he'd like to do a sequel "to prove the terrible lie that they all were, that it was a happy ending.”

“I’d like to do me and Julia and the hideous divorce that’s ensued with really expensive lawyers, children involved in [a] tug of love, floods of tears. Psychologically scarred forever. I’d love to do that film," Hugh joked.

Honestly, I'd kind of be down for that kind of sequel, as long as it meant seeing Hugh and Julia together again!

What do you think? Do you think their characters would have gotten divorced, or do you disagree with Hugh and think they would've made it work? Let us know in the comments!
