HBO Boss Teases How ‘Sex And The City’ Reboot Will Explain Samantha’s Absence

Okay, let's see if I can get through this article without making a cosmopolitan and crying for days gone by.

As you most probably know by NOW, there is an upcoming Sex and the City reboot series coming to HBO Max. As you probably also know, the reboot will not star Kim Cattrall alongside Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristin Davis, and Cynthia Nixon.

Since the news of the reboot broke, fans have been wondering what HBO will do to explain Samantha's absence.

Fans made it clear anything would be fine as long as the writers don't kill off Kim's character!

Now, fans are finally getting the answer they've been waiting for!

HBO Max chief content officer Casey Bloys explained to TVLine: "They’re not trying to say that these characters are reliving their 30s."

"It is very much a story about women in their 50s, and they are dealing with things that people deal with in their 50s."

"Just as in real life, people come into your life, people leave,” Casey continued.

"Friendships fade, and new friendships start."

"So I think it is all very indicative of the real stages, the actual stages of life… They’re trying to tell an honest story about being a woman in her 50s in New York."

"So it should all feel somewhat organic, and the friends that you have when you’re 30, you may not have when you’re 50.”

That's not unlike sentiments Kim Cattrell has given herself in regards to her relationships with her SATC costars.

"They all have children and I am ten years older, and since specifically the series ending I have been spending most of my time outside of New York so I don’t see them,” Kim said back in 2017. "The common ground that we had was the series, and the series is over."
