Viral Photos Show What Happens When A Guy’s Roomba Runs Over Dog Poop

Advances in technology are simultaneously the best and worst things to happen to mankind.

It's true that technology helps us a lot in everyday life, and has improved tasks both big and small in ways that we never could have imagined just a few decades ago.

It is also true that it is literally out to get us at all times and that movies like Terminator and Blade Runner are 100% accurate and are our current reality. Don't fight me on this because you will lose.

We can all attest to experiencing moments on a daily basis in which our woes are completely technology oriented, and in some cases, doing things "the old fashioned way" would have saved us a whole lot of trouble.

'Smart Vacuums' have risen in popularity over the last couple of years.

The Roomba, the most popular of them, is able to use motion sensor technology to not only vacuum an area on its own, but to sense when it is about to bump into something, turn around, and start cleaning in a different direction within a set perimeter.

But there are always draw backs to technology advanced enough to do this sort of thing.

Roombas obviously don't have a human level of common sense, so they will try to clean anything they come across, regardless of whether it will fit in the little vacuum suction container. This includes using the motion sensors to chase real people to try and clean them.

One man recently encountered a common Roomba related issue.

This is Ryan Landy, a run-of-the-mill Roomba owner from Florida who studied at the New York Film Academy.

Like many people in 2019, Landy uses a Roomba to vacuum his kitchen, and trusts that, like its description, it does more cleaning than mess-making.

Unfortunately, he couldn't have been more wrong.

Yesterday, Landy shared a photo of the 'aftermath' of leaving his Roomba alone in his kitchen overnight, from which he admitted he would 'need therapy' for.

"My new Roomba ran over my dog’s s--- and proceeded to 'clean' the rest of my house"

Yep, he's in some deep poop.

The Roomba managed to run itself over dog poop, but rather than stopping, it continued to spread the poop all over Landy's home.

The Facebook post immediately went viral.

Some commentors reacted just as we did—in pure disgust.

Others, mostly Roomba owners themselves, seemed completely unphased. "This is why I don't leave it on its own," one user wrote. "Better ask them about that dog poop warranty."

Let's all send Ryan some good vibes (and cleaning supplies).

Moral of the story: Technology can be very helpful, but not when it's left to its own devices. Something tells me that Ryan will be hand-vacuuming his kitchen throughout the near future.
