This Couple Got Married In The Middle Of The NYC Blackout

A lot of people regard their wedding as the most important moment in their entire life, so it's no surprise that there's a large 'wedding planning' market.

Both brides and grooms alike tend to have an image of their 'perfect' wedding ceremony, often wanting to make decisions about decor and scheduling down to minute, seemingly unnoticeable details.

And it makes sense. If you're going to be picky on any day, you might as well do it on your wedding.

Most people regard photographs as one of the most important aspects of wedding planning.

Sure, you got married, but what does it matter if you don't have the gorgeous photographic proof to memorialize your special day?

Regardless of what venue, season, or destination you are holding your wedding in, there's always a sufficient amount of one thing in abundance to ensure that the photographs go as planned: light.

Ever been to a night wedding? No? This is why.

This past weekend, New York City experienced a massive blackout.

Residential homes and institutions alike lost electricity, meaning things like public transit, shopping centers, stage shows, and streets were immersed in a thick darkness.

This didn't prevent life from attempting to continue on as normal though. If we know anything about New Yorkers, it's that they're not letting anything stand in the way of their daily life.

One of the wildest stories emerging from the blackout is that of a pair of newlyweds seen posing for pictures in the dark.

"This couple was getting married at The Plaza," Emma G. Fitzsimmons writes. "The lights went out during their wedding....but they made the best of the situation and danced the night away."

"They said their vows in the dark. No food; just candles."

"If you've planned a wedding, you'll understand how this is basically Your. Worst. Nightmare," she continued, "but I'm sure it's also a story they'll be telling their grandchildren."

One wedding attendee chimed in to share her perspective of the event.

"That's my friends and yes the wedding definitely did not go as planned," she wrote, "but WOW did people step up and make it incredible. Beautiful bride and groom, amazing flowers, entire wedding singing to help the band since they no mics, and they danced the night away!"

The dark photograph of the beautiful couple quickly went viral.

"I love this," one woman commented, "Life is unpredictable and doesn't always go as planned. Surround yourself with people who dance through it rather than dwell on it."

The internet pretty much collectively agreed that it was the greatest love story of our generation.

While a pile of horrifying accounts came out of the NYC blackout, here was this beautiful story of triumph despite being faced with a terrible situation.

"This story wins the Great New York Blackout 2019 stories competition."

It is certainly true that this couple will have quite the interesting wedding story to tell future generations to come.
