'SpongeBob' Episodes Being Removed From Paramount+ For 'Inappropriate' Storylines

While it might seem like everything these days is under way too much scrutiny and at risk of being "canceled," it's definitely important to make sure that we know exactly what is being looked at critically and why the actions being taken are being taken. When you see someone talking about our favorite kids' cartoons being canceled, it's definitely pertinent to see why before getting upset!

*SpongeBob Squarepants* seems faily innocent as kids' shows goes.

The show is pretty much the definition of "harmless kids' entertainment," but that doesn't mean there's not episodes that stand out!

Paramount+ has recently made headlines for removing two episodes of the show from its streaming service, and Nickelodeon has released statements as to why.

The first episode being pulled is *Mid-Life Crustacean*.

The episode involves SpongeBob, Patrick, and Mr. Krabs going on a panty raid, which is probably a bit strange to see in a kids' show.

Mid-Life Crustacean has been out of rotation since 2018, following a standards review in which we determined some story elements were not kid-appropriate,” a representative for Nickelodeon told IGN.

The other episode being pulled is for a very different reason.

The episode, The Kwarantined Crab, deals with an outbreak of a disease called the 'Clam Flu' that requires those inside the Krusty Crab restaurant to quarantine.

The Kwarantined Crab centres on a virus storyline, so we have decided to not air it due to sensitivities surrounding the global, real-world pandemic,” the representative for Nickelodeon said.
