There Are So Many Jokes From Children's Shows We Didn't Get Until Now

Have you ever gone back and rewatched some of your favorite cartoons as a kid?

If so, you may have picked up on things you never noticed before. This includes a lot of adult jokes, involving non-PG subject matter, like sex and drugs.

So if you're ready to take a walk down memory lane, be prepared to be shocked at these 10+ jokes from children's shows we didn't get until now.

Hey Inappropriate.

In one episode of Hey Arnold, Helga's love for Arnold took quite the turn.

She sat in the closet where she built a shrine for Arnold and wrote a poem about him that had the line, "Arnold, you make my girlhood tremble."

The accident.

In one episode of The Powerpuff Girls, Bubbles told their new neighbor Robin that Professor Utonium made them in the lab by accident.

To this, Robin hilariously responded, "Don't worry, Professor, I was an accident, too."

The "banana."

"Jimmy Neutron when he is talking with his dad Hugh. His dad randomly says, 'Once when I was 7, I sat on a banana. And of course, that changed my life...' Jimmy and his moms face say it all." - Redditor Chromatic73

Monkeying around.

Normally, we're not fans of Mojo Jojo from The Powerpuff Girls.

But you couldn't help but feel for him when he was thrown in jail with a big man who creepily smiled as the narrator said, "Love is in the air, can't ya just smell it?"

Don't drop the soap.

"When SpongeBob is trying to get Gary in the bath, and he shows Gary doubloon soaps and says, “Look Gary, doubloons, don’t drop em!” - Redditor gojira9798.

This is even more suspicious when you factor in SpongeBob's wink.

Rocko’s Kinky Life

In Rocko's Modern Life, Rocko found a job as a phone sex operator. How do we know that?

He kept repeating "oh, baby. Oh, baby. Oh, baby" even when his neighbor called! It's hard to say how this got approved.

Ruh Roh.

"An episode of one of the incarnations of Scooby Doo in the late 2000s. My niece loved watching them, so I would sit and watch with her.

Basically, a guest character who is a cute blonde and is crushing on Fred turns coyly to him while stating, 'I’m eighteen! Able to legally...vote!' - Redditor deleted

The quick finisher.

Hawkgirl in Justice League basically roasted the crap out of the Y7 Flash when he said that he's the fastest man alive. To this, she quipped, "Ever think that's why you can't get a date?" LOL.

CPR.

"There's an episode of Sam and Cat where Ariana Grande has to sit on a guys chest and bounce up and down to 'perform CPR'. It's not even subtle." - Redditor whopewell

Some parents would have a heart attack if they saw their kids watching this.

Filthy animals.

While Bugs and Daffy are waiting in a theatre in Looney Tunes, Daffy decides to pull out the magazine PLAYDUCK.

This was a clever take on these cartoon animals flipping through the equivalent of Playboy.

Clever wordplay.

"Husband and I recently watched through all of Superman the Animated Series. First episode Lois walks up to a picture of Superman and says 'nice S' and we just about died" - Redditor CringyWhiteGirlDance

Making that dough.

In one episode of Dexter's Laboratory the villain cuts into a bag of flour like it's a kilo of cocaine...

To top it off, he said, "Gentlemen, we are about to make a lot of bread."

Joking around.

"In the 1990s Batman: The Animated Series there's a scene where Harley Quinn hops up on Joker's desk in a nightie (or something) and says to him, "Don't you want to rev up your Harley?" - Redditor cigarsandlegs

The stripper.

In one episode of Dexter's Labratory, Dexter decides to fire his sister Dee Dee and replaces her with a woman who we can only assume is a stripper.

At one point, she even goes as far as to tell Dexter that she’ll dance for extra money.

"Dusting" for prints

When Yakko asks Dot to “dust for prints" in Animaniacs, she comes back with Prince the pop star.

Yakko then goes on to say, “No, no, no, fingerprints." Clever, yes, but not the best image to think of.

Looking for "snacks."

In one episode of Rocko's Modern Life, Heffer lands in the hospital from a puff pastry snack overdose.

When it shows him "looking for snacks," in his bed at the end, it looks an awful lot like something else...

Dad's Trophy.

We all know what trophy wives are; we just didn't expect to see it on an episode of Dexter's Labratory.

But the words "Dad's Trophy" were written across the pants of the new lady next door.

Dirty Grandpa.

When Grandpa Lou in Rugrats is handing over the kids' favorite Reptar movies, he chuckles and says, “And my personal favorite, Lonely Space Vixen.”

He concludes this dirty scene by adding, "that's for after you go to bed."

SpongeBob ErectPants.

At first glance, this just looks like a silly picture of SpongeBob wearing his underwear over his head. What else is new!

But if you read between the lines, you'll see that this resembles an erection...
