Ben Affleck Sparks Debate After Ignoring Fan In Viral Video: 'Has To Get Old"

Of all the things in this world that we desire most until we actually get them, fame has to be near the top of the list.

Because while being a famous entertainer undeniably comes with its share of perks, it's also often a hectic lifestyle that can get exhausting even before you have to deal with the paparazzi and the public's bizarre rumors about you.

And while having legions of fans sounds good in theory and can be rewarding in a lot of ways, even small interactions with these fans can take their toll after you come across enough of them.

And this reality is at the heart of a debate that has recently formed around one fan's disappointing encounter with Ben Affleck.

While visiting the Wynn hotel in Las Vegas, a friend of TikTok user @nunezj182 recorded Affleck ascending an escalator outside of the resort's Lakeside restaurant.

While his baseball cap is obscuring his face for some of the clip, he can be clearly identified as he gets closer to the camera.

Before the actor and director stepped off the escalator, the friend can be heard saying, "What's up, Ben?"

But as the caption seen throughout the video makes clear, he didn't get any response to this greeting.

And as we can see here, Affleck simply kept walking as if he hadn't heard anything.

While this was clearly disappointing for the friend, @nunezj182 seemed to understand Affleck's perspective more.

As he wrote in his description, "Celebs do this cuz they don’t want to garner attention."

However, Affleck's reaction seemed to rub some commenters the wrong way who suggested that he was forgetting how important his fans are to his career.

As one of these commenters said, "Be humble Ben. Your fans are the ones who get you paid."

As another put it, "Fame comes with a price just saying be humble and nice to fans."

Still, many users seemed to agree with the uploader and didn't feel as though Affleck's critics were being fair in this situation.

In the words of one user, "That happens to him 1,000 times a day. Has to get old."

Another came forward with an even more passionate defense, saying, "He’s minding his own business… celebs aren’t zoo animals. Let them be. I have seen 3 celebs irl and never bothered them or said anything."

Now that you've seen the video and heard both sides of the argument, what do you think? Was Affleck rude to snub this person or are fans just becoming more entitled as time goes on?
