Woman Stages Fake Wedding For Surprise Proposal To The Best Man

Even though surprise parties are about as effective as they've ever been, there are a few ways to see them coming.

While there could be more unfortunate reasons why those closest to a person aren't acknowledging their birthday when it comes, it's a popular way to set up the surprise. This goes double if one friend is suddenly very interested in running an errand with them and it has to be right on that day.

But while surprise parties can have some common clues, surprise weddings are understandably much harder to predict. So it's easy to see why one Welsh man never saw his coming for a second.

For 36-year-old Aleasha Pilawa of Bargoed, Wales, life is often pretty busy.

As she told Wales Online, she's pursuing a degree in HR Management and owns two tire repair garages.

But one of her employees is particularly special to her.

Before 40-year-old Paul Schoproni started working for Pilawa, he had met her during a night out.

Although the two hit it off well enough to spend two years together, there was something Schoproni kept doing that she found "proper embarrassing."

Namely, he would ask her to marry him about 30 times a day, by Pilawa's estimation.

He would sometimes communicate this by standing outside the garage with a board asking her to marry him, but she said her aforementioned busy lifestyle made his repeated requests exhausting.

As she said, "Besides I’ve been married twice already and was a bit reluctant to go through all that again."

Eventually, Pilawa decided to "put him out of his misery" but did so through an elaborate ruse.

Although her friends knew she was planning to propose to him at an upcoming ceremony, Schoproni thought he was going to be the best man at a vow renewal for his friends, Kevin and Heidi (not pictured).

Little did he know that Pilawa had staged the entire event with the couple's help.

As Schoproni said, "My mate Kev’s a goth and the minister was there in all this dark clothing, so I never suspected for one minute the day wasn’t for him."

Soon after he arrived for the event, however, Schoproni discovered his surprise bride dancing down the aisle in a wedding dress.

She then sang a powerful rendition of their song, the 1978 Motown hit "It Should’ve Been Me," before approaching her shocked groom and getting down on one knee.

But when she asked if Schoproni would marry her, he said, "No" and started to run away.

Of course, this was also a ruse and he quickly ran back to her and kissed her. The couple have since set up an appointment with a registry office and are planning a honeymoon abroad.

As Schoproni said, "I thought it was a joke at first and even now, despite the fact I’ve probably watched the video a hundred times, I still can’t quite believe it."
