Texas Lawmaker Says His 'AR Is Ready' For Beto O'Rourke After Gun Control Pledge

A Republican lawmaker from Texas tweeted "My AR is ready for you" at Beto O'Rourke after the presidential candidate vowed to confiscate weapons as part of his gun control plan, ABC News reported.

State congressman Briscoe Cain's tweet has been branded a "death threat" from O'Rourke, who also announced his campaign staff have reported it to the FBI.

At Thursday night's Democratic debate, O'Rourke doubled down on his promise to implement mandatory buybacks for semi-automatic rifles.

When questioned about it, he responded, "Hell yes, we're going to take away your AR-15, your AK-47."

He added, "We're not going to allow it to be used against our fellow Americans anymore."

Although he received cheers and applause from the audience, one person wasn't too thrilled with O'Rourke's pledge.

Texas state Rep. Briscoe Cain, who has been vocal about his pro-gun stance, tweeted at O'Rourke and wrote, "My AR is ready for you Robert Francis," using the candidate's birth name.

Although his tweet was removed hours later for for violating Twitter's terms of service, O'Rourke snapped a screenshot of the message and shared it to his own followers, writing, "This is a death threat, Representative. Clearly, you shouldn't own an AR-15 — and neither should anyone else."

Cain swiftly fired back at O'Rourke and called him a "child" as Twitter users responded to the original tweet with disbelief.

One user tweeted at Cain, "Did you, uh, just hreaten to shoot a former Congress and current candidate for president?", to which Cain replied, "You're an idiot."

Another user wrote, "Threatening gun violence because you're afraid of people taking away your guns seems like a pretty good reason to take away your guns."

One of O'Rourke's campaign officials has confirmed Cain's original tweet has been reported to the FBI.

This isn't the first time Cain and O'Rourke have feuded over guns.

Early this month, Cain tweeted at the Democrat and vocal advocate for gun control, writing, "I'll give you my gun when you pry it from my cold dead hands."
