Prince William's Birthday Post To Prince Harry Has People Mad

People have somehow found a way to hate on Prince William after the birthday post he made for his brother, Prince Harry, on Instagram over the weekend.

As per usual, fans of the royal family have dissected something that was intended to be thoughtful and kind, and turned it into something to complain about.

Trolls, amirite?

In June, fans attacked Prince Harry and Meghan Markle for not wishing Prince William a happy birthday on Instagram.

Even though chances are they probably both personally wished him a happy birthday IRL.

Earlier this month Meghan Markle was mom-shamed for taking a two-day trip without her son, Archie.

Meghan flew to New York for a couple of days to support her BFF, Serena Williams, at the US Open.

Totally harmless, right?

Wrong.

Fans snapped — swarming Meghan and Harry's Instagram comments, criticizing her for leaving her four-month-old son.

Even though Harry — a very capable father — stayed behind with him while Meghan was away.

Daily Mail even wrote an entire article about it, outright shaming Meghan.

"My children would be the first to tell you that I am not the most sentimental of mothers," the author wrote.

"But even I would have thought twice about leaving my firstborn at home at the tender age of just four months".

"In order to fly 3,500 miles to watch Serena Williams play in the US Open final...It is not an unreasonable expectation that she might want to spend a little time with the new arrival. But no."

Fans were commenting things like: "What mother leaves a four month old baby, supposedly breastfeeding, to go on a little jolly".

"Which decent mother is going to fly half way around the world leaving their young baby behind for a fickle thing like a so call [sic] friend tennis match," wrote another.

The royal family really cannot catch a break.

Anyway, Prince William wished his brother a happy birthday on Instagram, sharing a photo of the two of them candidly smiling at each other.

"Wishing a very happy birthday to The Duke of Sussex today!," the caption read, along with a birthday cake emoji.

Seems like a fairly normal birthday greeting on Instagram between brothers to me.

But comments flooded in, arguing that William's message seemed cold and disingenuous.

This person pointed out that William only has one little brother — suggesting he could have written something more sentimental.

You know, by nature, social media isn't meant to be personal.

We don't really know what William and Harry's brotherly interactions are like in real life, but that's what counts.

Their relationship shouldn't be measured by their online demonstrations.

There's also no way of actually knowing what kind of tone William was using when he wrote this message.

So, it's pretty bold to assume the absolute worst.

This fan chimed in, claiming that William's birthday post was too formal.

But I'd like to point out that Prince William — and the rest of the royal family, in fact — are literally always formal when they're on display for the public.

So, why would this be any different?

But hey, trolls will always find something to whine about when it comes to the royal family.

But as long as Harry enjoyed the birthday post that William made for him, that's all that matters!

The negative comments were super unnecessary. But did we really expect anything less?
