Rod Stewart Reveals Secret 2 Year Fight With Prostate Cancer That 'No Ones Knows' About

Rod Stewart has just announced that he was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2017, and had been secretly fighting the disease in private until today. He made the announcement at a fundraising event this week.

Rod was speaking at an evening for the Prostate Project in Surrey, England, and addressed the importance of regular check ups.

“Two years ago I was diagnosed with prostate cancer. No one knows this, but I thought this was about time I told everybody,” Rod said.

"I’m in the clear, now, simply because I caught it early. I have so many tests.”

Rod stressed the importance of prostate exams, especially for men above a certain age. He said, "You’ve got to really go to the doctor. Finger up the bum, no harm done.”

Rod also pointed out that his other three bandmates, including Ronnie Wood and Kenny Jones, all battled cancer.

"We're the cancer four," Rod joked, before adding, "If you’re positive, and you work through it and you keep a smile on your face… I’ve worked for two years and I’ve just been happy, and the good Lord looked after me."

"Somebody up there likes us, Rod," added Ronnie Wood.

Tim Sharp, president of the Prostate Project, said, "Experience has shown what a big difference high-profile celebrities can make when they ‘come out' about their cancer. We have no doubt that Sir Rod's decision to announce his fight with the disease will be equally effective."
