Couple's Failed Attempt At 'Romantic' Champagne Engagement Photo Goes Viral

Pinterest has quickly become every social media user's go-to source for quality content inspo. And for good reason, too.

Can't think of a catchy caption for your fall-themed photo shoot? Pinterest. Want to really make your gender reveal party stand out from the rest? Pinterest. Found yourself in about a dozen Secret Santa exchanges without any money left in your holiday budget for store-bought gifts? I think you know where I'm going with this. Pinterest.

This place seriously has everything you need to make your social media the absolute best it can be. But that's not to say everything you try to emulate from Pinterest will turn out perfectly.

One recently engaged couple decided to try to recreate an engagement picture from Pinterest for their celebratory snap.

Alyssa Snodsmith and Collin Hewett planned on sending these pics out to their friends and family, so of course they wanted to make sure their shoot was as perfect and loved-up as possible.

And Pinterest had just the idea for them. All they'd need was a blanket, some glasses, and a bottle of champagne.

Sounds simple enough, right? Wrong.

For reference, this is the original Pinterest portrait that Snodsmith and Hewett were going off of.

At first glance, it certainly seems like it would be fairly painless to recreate, as long as your fiancé has a steady hand, of course.

Unfortunately for Snodsmith, her betrothed had a bit of a hard time mastering the art of the aerial pour.

On the day of the shoot, the happy couple took a few introductory pictures before they got to the main event.

Popping the bottle of bubbly, they took a seat on their blanket and readied themselves for the most fabulous engagement photo possible.

Their first attempt went off without a hitch, but their photographer needed to find a better angle. That's when things went south.

For some reason, Hewett couldn't seem to get the champagne to come out of the bottle in a steady stream anymore.

"I was super hesitant the whole way and then it started to just dribble out the end," he told Buzzfeed News. "So I kind of over-adjusted."

The result? One soggy bride-to-be and quite possibly the most hilarious engagement picture ever.

"We were dying laughing," Snodsmith said. "Our photographer fell on his butt because he was laughing so hard."

But, ever the professional, he still managed to get some excellent snaps of the happy couple as Hewett dumped what he estimates was probably about a quarter of the bottle of champagne over his fiancé.

Thankfully for us, this couple was more than happy to share their blunder of an engagement shoot with the world.

Hewett posted the photos (plus the original inspo pic from Pinterest) on his Twitter and added that he "botched" the shoot. At least he recognizes that it was, indeed, his fault the loved-up shoot went so south.

Just three days since it was posted, the series of hilarious pics have amassed nearly 500,000 likes and over 55,000 retweets.

Snodsmith made sure to share her own snap so everyone knows she didn't drown in champagne, as her fiance's post would suggest.

Of course, the people of the internet are absolutely obsessed with this couple's photos, with many likening them to that "expectation vs. reality" meme.

And in an effort to make Hewett and Snodsmith feel a bit better about their misstep of a shoot, others have shared their own engagement pic fails as well.

The moral of the story? When you're trying to take some super cute snaps to celebrate your engagement, it'd definitely be in your best interest to skip the champagne and opt for a dry shoot.

Unless you want everyone you know to have a really good laugh. Then by all means, pop that bubbly and get ready to bathe in a bottle of the good stuff, all in the name of love.
