'Mom Of The Year' Accidentally Melts Her Elf On The Shelf In The Oven

Being a mom is a thankless job but when you're a single mom it gets even harder. Things can get hectic around the holidays and there's so much extra stuff to do, like dealing with the annoying "Elf on the Shelf".

This mom came up with a clever plan so she didn't have to move the elf every day but unfortunately her plan kinda backfired, pun intended.

Brittany Mease wasn't a fan of the Elf on the Shelf idea but she always sucked it up for her kids' sake.

This year she came up with a plan.

She told the kids that their elf, affectionately named Elfis, fell over their toys and broke his leg.

Therefore he needed to stay put for a whole two weeks.

Surprisingly the kids actually bought the idea and she was off the hook for a whole two weeks.

Not having to move the elf must've been a relief. Ha, ha!

After two weeks the kids started asking why Elfis still hasn't moved and Brittany panicked.

So she hid the elf in the oven and vowed to deal with him later.

The thing is she forgot about it.

Then came time to make lunch, she turned on the oven to pre-heat it. When she started to smell something funky, she realized her mistake.

Now Elfis was starting to burn away in the oven.

Brittany and her friend tried desperately to rescue the melting elf but it was too late. The damage was done.

Her son was pretty upset but her daughter who already didn't enjoy Elfis spying on her was actually enjoying this epic disaster.

I have to say, can you blame her?

Brittany felt terrible especially since her little boy was sick and even ended up having surgery later.

I guess these are the struggles of a single mom.

But she quickly came up with an idea to call Santa to pick up Elfis and get him all fixed up in time for Christmas.

Thankfully, Santa came through.

Santa even showed up himself to deliver the healed elf to the kids much to their surprise.

So it all ended up working out in the end. Ha, ha.

To prevent this from happening again Brittany's son, Gray, suggested that Elfis returns to the same spot every day so they'll know he's always safe and sound.

Smart boy.

When Brittany shared her epic mom fail moment on Facebook her post went viral.

She received over 150, 000 shares and a ton of comments from other parents.

Most of the parents couldn't stop laughing and sympathizing with Brittany for coming up with some clever ideas to not deal with the elf only to fail miserably.

Hey, it happens.

I think this mom shouldn't be too hard on herself.

After all, raising kids on your own is tough enough. She's done her best and that's all that matters.
