We don't really need more evidence that dogs are awesome, but we'll always take some regardless, right? Because how can you ever get tired of hearing about the world's best animals?
Also, they just keep proving it. Just look at this incredible gesture of love.
Every dog owner I'm sure has experienced the comfort of their loyal companion after a bad day. They just seem to know when something is wrong and they use love to fix it as often as they can, don't they?
Barkers Pet Motel and Grooming in Alberta had the joy of observing some of that amazing dog love up close one night, and they just had to share it with the world.
And one night, two little foster puppies, just nine weeks old at the time, were having trouble getting adjusted to their new surroundings and started crying out for help in the night.
As Alex Aldred, who works at Barkers, told ABC News, he and his mother, Sandy, saw on surveillance cameras that Maggie had escaped from her kennel that night and made her way over to the puppies' kennel. So, they went to check in on the dogs and found that Maggie was overcome with maternal instincts.
"Sandy stayed in there for about 15 minutes and then said, 'Well it looks like they need each other,' and then let Maggie stay the night in their kennel."
Maggie stayed with the puppers all night, and they were still cuddled up together in the morning.
Maggie had had a litter of her own, all of which had been adopted out two weeks earlier by the Humane Society before she got adopted herself. "We think that's why she got so attached to the puppies," Alex said. "We've never really seen it before, where a dog sneaks out to some puppies and is so excited to see them."
"It’s innate in a lot of female dogs, especially if they’ve had a litter in the past," she said. "It’s just in their nature. We’ve seen it in a lot of dogs even with male dogs, when they hear other puppies crying they want to console them and make sure they’re feeling safe."
Once Barkers' post about Maggie went viral, the puppies became stars and within about a week, they had been adopted.
