Spiky Goth Crocs Are Officially A Thing And They're Selling Out Fast

I remember when crocs first hit the scene and I have to say, I wasn't really a fan.

They seemed comfortable enough, but I just couldn't get into the look, especially since the early ones seemed to come in colors that did their best to resemble vomit.

Still, after that month at summer camp when I saw them everywhere, even my grumpy self started to get used to them. And by now, there are so many different styles of croc that anyone can find a pair that looks right to them.

And if the latest incarnation of these shoes was around when I was younger, I probably would've understood the appeal a lot earlier.

These black, moody crocs go by a few names, depending on what look you're going for.

The designer who made them calls them both "punk spike crocs" and "goth crocs."

After all, both styles are no strangers to spikes and chains.

Speaking of the designer, his name is Chris S., but he also goes by "Garbage Boy."

According to The Sun, his crocs are fitted with nickel-plated spikes and the chains are "high sheen stainless steel."

He also assured people on Instagram that they "haven't gored anyone yet," so that's a relief.

Bold as the goth crocs are, they're certainly easier to wear than some of his other designs.

Take, for instance, the Bananciagas, one of the only shoes with an expiration date that comes before the fashion industry can decide they're "out."

Chris made those in collaboration with another bold fellow named l'homme boy, but that wasn't their only creation.

They also came together to make the "Wrap Simons," which probably induce fewer squirms in the wearer. At least until they step in sauce like this.

But now that we know little more about their maker, let's get into the goth crocs themselves.

They're available on the Heavy Cream Etsy store and they're not officially affiliated with crocs.

Instead, Garbage Boy and associates buy black ones at retail price and hand-modify them.

This means that prospective buyers have some room for customization, as the shoes are made to order.

For instance, you can get them with or without that big side spike. You can also add an extra ankle chain (which is not the one on the shoe) or get both the big spike and the chain.

The spike doesn't seem to affect the price, but the chain costs an extra $20.

While we're discussing the price, some interested watchers consider it the only reason they don't already have these.

And it's not hard to see why once you learn that they cost about $250 on their own and about $270 with the extra chain.

Despite the intimidating price, these are still proving to be a popular item.

At the time of this writing, the Etsy page says there are only three left in stock so if you want them, it's probably best to jump on that as soon as possible.
