12 Actors Who Were Fed Up And Nearly Quit Their Movies

From the outside, Hollywood seems like a glamorous place. From the red carpets and fancy parties to nice houses and a ton of money, how could it be a bad thing?

It turns out that it really isn't as perfect as it all seems, and these actors have made that clear. Bad working conditions, disagreements with the staff, and poor writing decisions have all led to these actors nearly walking out of their movies and breaking contract. Here's what went down!

1. Zoe Saldana nearly gave up acting after having a sour experience working on the set of Pirates of the Caribbean.

She explained that the people behind the movie weren't right for her, referring to the political "stuff" that occurred.

"It was a lot of above-the-line versus below-the-line, extras versus actors, producers versus PAs. It was very elitist. I almost quit the business," she said.

2. John Cena was asked film a scene so terrifying in 12 Rounds that he almost quit the movie because of it.

Apparently, he has a fear of heights and was asked to rappel down the side of a building and dangle from a rope. He admitted on a DVD extra that it made him so uneasy, he nearly quit.

3. Jim Carrey is our favorite funny man, but filming How The Grinch Stole Christmas wasn't such an enjoyable time for him.

The makeup process was eight and a half hours every day.

He said that he felt as though he was being "buried alive." Eventually, a trainer came in to teach Jim how to endure torture, and the film went on as planned.

4. Daisy Ridley absolutely dominated her role in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

You'd never be able to tell that she actually struggled on her first days filming.

"I was petrified. I thought I was gonna have a panic attack on the first day," she admitted.

J.J. Abrams had apparently told her that her performance was "wooden," so I can't say I blame her for panicking.

5. When it came to renegotiating contracts for the Harry Potter series, Emma Watson came close to walking out.

"I was finding this fame thing was getting to a point of no return. I sensed if this was something I was ever going to step away from it was now or never," she said.

6. Brad Pitt admitted he was "miserable" while filming Interview With A Vampire.

He even tried to find a way out of his contract while filming.

He asked the producer what it would cost to get him out of the contract. Apparently, $40 million was a little too hefty for him, and he stuck it out.

7. Lauren Cohan nearly quit The Walking Dead because one scene was a little too violent for her to film.

The scene in question is where her character has to perform a C-section.

"I have to leave the show. I don’t think I can do it," she recalled.

Of course, she did eventually do it but drew from her real emotions to get the scene just right.

8. Ian McKellen found it frustrating constantly acting in front of a green screen during the first Hobbit film.

So much so that he considered calling it quits.

"It was so distressing and off-putting and difficult that I thought 'I don't want to make this film if this is what I'm going to have to do," he confessed.

9. Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio stormed off set during the filming of The Abyss.

During the scene where she was given CPR, she was actually being slapped for real.

She was furious when she discovered that the camera wasn't working and didn't capture everything. She refused to go back and redo the scene again.

10. Everybody knows and loves the famous "Bohemian Rhapsody" scene in Wayne's World.

11. Michelle Rodriguez came close to quitting The Fast And The Furious.

12. Jessica Alba had a really hard time working with the director on Fantastic Four.
