Moms Are Ditching Gender Reveal Cakes For Graphic 'Birthing Cakes' Instead

It seems as though with the rise of Pinterest and social media to help plan parties, baby showers and gender reveals are getting more and more complex. From rocket launchers with gender-revealing colors to intricate desserts, everyone wants to have a memorable time when celebrating their soon-to-be bundle of joy. Recently, soon-to-be moms have decided to do away with color-coded cakes and instead, make "birthing cakes" to celebrate... well, birth!

Some of them are quite sweet.

With the wonders of birth being celebrated, moms mimic what giving birth actually looks like, even using doll heads to represent their baby coming out of them.

And not graphic or strange.

Simply recreating the miracle of life with a delicious, sweet, and tasty combination of cake, frosting, and fruit. Clearly, it's meant to be lighthearted fun.

But some of them get pretty graphic.

We all know that birth can be messy, so some bakers decide to get up close and personal with their birthing cakes. What's not to love... or want to eat?

Like, really graphic.

Some places make birthing cakes with way too much detail, like hair, and jelly to look like blood and placenta. We can't help but think this won't be very appetizing to some party-goers.

However, the ones that are simple are the ones that look the best.

Taking away all of the intimate details, these cakes are definitely photo-worthy, when done appropriately and sweet. What better way to prep than with a visual of what's to come?!?

Some even make them at home themselves.

Decorating them with cute add-ons and fun sayings brings it back to the lighthearted and funny theme that most expecting mothers are going for with this kind of cakes.

While many mothers pick out their own cakes, some friends plan their parties and get them as a joke.

What better way to show your friends you're excited about their new arrival than by showing them what they are in for in the labor and delivery room? True friendship.

While the standard is to have the cake look like a mother's... well... ya know, some people get creative.

For some reason, we think that this is a bit more comforting than the actual idea of eating your family/friend's private areas — cake or no cake, the thought is there.

Some people even opt to show it all.

There's nothing more natural than the birthing process, so why not get close and comfortable with it, am I right? While the vagina cakes are a bit much, the full-body birthing cake is definitely taking it to the next level.

And, they make sure to include every single "body part."

Please, whatever you do, don't end up the person who gets the booty-hole piece of the cake at the party. Who wants to be that guy? Not I.

The beauty of these cakes is that you can use some interesting ingredients.

Like this cake which used strawberry gummies for some, uh, realistic details.

But, there's a chance that some of them go a little too far.

Okay, I love cake, and even I would question eating this. It just looks way too close to the real thing.

They'll certainly make an impression at your baby shower.

Everyone has the same old, boring baby shower themes. If you have one of these cakes, people will definitely remember your shower.

They're even an option for twin moms!

How come having two babies makes these cakes even more creepy? I wasn't ready for this.

If you're looking to spice up your shower or gender reveal party with something fun, clearly vagina cakes are the way to go.

It's a conversation piece and everyone will remember it for a long, long time to come. Plus, it's a solid way to make sure your party ends up all over social media, right?

Would you have a vagina cake for your shower?

These cakes are for soon-to-be moms looking for a laugh and with a great sense of humor. I definitely would have one just to make everyone else giggle. What about you?
